Celebrate Juneteenth! The celebration of freedom in the United States of America is a week-long celebration of the abolition of slavery by the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth history is a vibrant part of American history, and many people are interested in learning more about it.

As an Emancipation Day celebration, Juneteenth is one of the oldest and longest-running celebrations of emancipation celebrated in the United States. The day is now recognized as a national holiday. Before the holiday was named, Juneteenth was simply known as “Emancipation Day” and is celebrated annually on June 19, the day after the announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1865.

Every year on June 19, the nation celebrates Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States. As we celebrate this day, we remember life in the pre-slavery days and how far we have come as a country. Although slavery ended more than a century ago, many people still struggle with the negative effects of the institution, including racial inequality and poverty.

Using Books

When you’re encountering a new culture, you want to learn as much as you can about it. And while we can’t learn everything in one afternoon, we can learn a lot about a country by reading its books. In fact, it’s safe to say that books are a central part of every culture, and the United States has more books than any other country in the world.

Most people rarely see people of colour in history books. Most people learn about the history of the United States in a textbook that is written by white authors, with white characters and covers the history of the United States from a white perspective. This is called Eurocentric history. The effects of Eurocentric history are still being felt today, and books are a wonderful way to introduce students to the history of people of colour.

Celebrating The Event Itself

What makes June 19th so special to our community and how can we celebrate it in the right way? It’s the day that slavery was officially abolished in the United States in 1865. The day is marked annually in more than 140 countries and on every continent except Antarctica. The yearly celebration of Juneteenth has come and gone, but the impact it has had on the African-American community will remain for years to come. The celebration is a time for people to reflect on the past and reaffirm their pride in their heritage.

Through Art

Art has the power to inspire, provoke, and educate. It can be a powerful source of insight into the world and our place in it. It can be a way for us to explore our culture and history. It can be a way for people to share their humanity with one another. And it can be a way for people to tell heartfelt stories to one another.

To honour the end of slavery in America, the 13th day of the month of June each year is declared Juneteenth, in which the enslaved people of Texas celebrate their emancipation. Since then, the celebration has become a nationwide tradition, with Juneteenth musicians and community groups traveling to different parts of the country to share their stories, music, and art.
